[Listen] Kate Nash’s ‘Pink Limo Ride’ a new song written for a friend attacked in a hate crime

As if we needed another reason to love UK singer Kate Nash — “I’d rather be with your friends mate,’cause they are much fitter” from her song “Foundations” is one of the most awesome lines ever sung in a saucy British accent — we just listened to her new song “Pink Limo Ride.” [listen below]

Nash’s good friend Mika was attacked in a hate crime in London last week, after stepping in to defend a female friend who was being harassed for her alternative style. In response, Nash wrote “Pink Limo Ride” (listen to it below via SoundCloud) along with a message speaking out in defense of her friend and urging fans to stand up against hate, discrimination and violence. “We’ll fight the prejudice, it’s bullsh—t, I contest,” she sings.

“There are some small things I can do to help my friend, one of those was write him this song. But there must be more that I can do. I want to stamp out hate and prejudice. I want things to change. If this story has made you want to change things too then please head tosophielancasterfoundation.com,” Kate wrote in her message. Sophie Lancaster was a young girl beaten to death for dressing like a goth in London in 2007.

Like we said, just another affirmation that Kate Nash rules.
