“How I Met Your Mother” finally revealed the identity of the titular mom on Monday, and no one’s more thrilled about new star Cristin Milioti than the show’s co-creator and executive producer Carter Bays.
“It was a pretty big umbrella to fill, casting the title role in a series that’s been on the air for eight years,” Bays told E! Online. “And yet Cristin Milioti is, against all odds, exactly what we were looking for. She made us laugh on ’30 Rock,’ she made us swoon in ‘Once,’ and her ukulele skills are no joke. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the ‘How I Met Your Motherfamily,’ and look forward to getting to know her — and the character she plays — much better in the coming final season.”
Cristin may be part of the “How I Met Your Mother” family now, but she’s definitely the baby of that family. According to IMDb, Cristin was born on August 16, 1985. That makes her 11 years younger than Josh Radnor, who plays Cristin’s future husband Ted, who was born onJuly 29,1974. No wonder it’s taken Ted eight years to find his wife — he had to wait for her to grow up. When the show started, she wasn’t even old enough to hang out at MacLaren’s Pub.
Even though we know Cristin’s the mother, not all suspense is gone from the show: The audience met Cristin’s yellow-umbrella-toting character, but Ted hasn’t yet. So we know who he’ll meet, but not how. Way to keep us on the hook, “HIMYM” — and hey, since you guys cast Cristin, we wouldn’t say no to a musical episode next season.
