Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland is finally going public about how it feels to live in Beyonce’s shadow in her new song, “Dirty Laundry.”
The song is a raw, angry account of surviving an abusive relationship and watching Beyonce become a superstar and leave her behind, according to E! Online.
“Went our separate ways but I was happy she was killin’ it/Bittersweet she was up, I was down/No lie, I feel good for her but what do I do now?” Rowland sings.
The song also reveals how her abusive boyfriend would taunt her about her insecurities: “I was battered/He hitting the window like it was me, until it shattered/He pulled me out and said, ‘Don’t nobody love you but me/Not your mama, not your daddy, and especially not Bey.”
