The Word: Zoe Saldana’s diet advice is ‘skip meals’

In a town full of slender, lithe stars, “Star Trek Into Darkness” star Zoe Saldana is lither than most. Her secret to staying skinny? Skipping meals, she claims.

“I mean, I don’t work out a lot, but I like to eat healthy,” Saldana said, according to E! Online. “I haven’t had lunch yet.. it’s very Hollywood, I know. … It’s not the only meal you can skip in one day.”

She does snack, she said. “You can go days doing that.”

Now, it’s likely that Zoe was joking. For one thing, she said it on “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” which is more like a parody of a talk show than a real one — no one ever really says what they mean. For another, surely she’s been in the business long enough to know the Starlet’s Code: The only acceptable answers for “How do you stay so thin?” are a healthy diet, a naturally fast metabolism or running around after a toddler. However, her collarbones do not look like they’re joking.

In other controversial Zoe weight news, the actress is shaking her head at the backlash she’s been feeling over her Allure magazine cover story that revealed her weight as 115 pounds.

“I don’t understand it sometimes. It almost felt like you were just looking for a reason to just be upset at the fact that I allowed myself to be very free and collaborating with a magazine that is known for collaborating with the subjects,” she tellsE! News. “It’s not the first time that people have said, ‘For such a delicate-looking person, you’re very tough.’ And I think that was the idea that they wanted to get across as a compliment to what they saw in me.”
