CharlieBrownChristmas

Metro’s Monday night TV breakdown.

‘Charlie Brown Christmas’
MOVIE. It’s officially December (holy crap, really?) which means it’s officially the season for all movies, TV shows and specials Christmas-y. Kick off an entire month of syndicated yuletide joy with our single all-time favorite Christmas movie of all time (well, animated at least) starring old blockhead and the gang in their pursuit of the true meaning of Christmas. (Charlie Brown bringing home the scraggly little tree that nobody else wanted and making it beautiful can still make us a little teary.) Tonight’s screening includes a new set of “Peanuts” vignettes, based on previously published strips.
8 p.m., ABCFAM

‘It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie’
MOVIE. This might not be our favorite Muppet holiday movie (we’re partial to “A Muppet Christmas Carol” or, more obscurely, “The Christmas Toy”). However, you really can’t go wrong with any movies starring Muppets, and this made-for-TV flick also features an all-star cast including Joan Cusack, Whoopi Goldberg, Zach Braff, Mel Brooks, William H. Macy, John Stewart, Molly Shannon and, uh, Carson Daly.
8 p.m., CW

‘Best Funeral Ever’
REALITY. In creepy reality show news, here’s a brand new one about pimped out… funerals. Here we thought “My Super Sweet 16” was the pinnacle of tasteless reality shows about events that really need not be pimped out. In the opening episode, a woman who loved bowling in life is sent off with an over-the-top, bowling-themed funeral.
Series Premiere, 10 p.m., TLC
