We’re mostly just surprised it’s taken this long for indignant, civic-minded citizens to pull a thing like this together. It takes peeing one’s initials in some snow and drunk drag racing to really fuel the political fire inside, we suppose. (Really, Deport Justin Bieber-ers, you could have had us at “One Less Lonely Girl.”)
The petition to “Deport Justin Bieber and Revoke His Green Card” went live on January 22 and it already has (as of this posting) 77,744 of its 100,000 signature goal, set for February 22. We’re thinking they’re going to hit it.
Apparently, if it hits said goal, the petition will go all the way to the top — meaning, the White House, where Obama will hopefully take one look and add his John Hancock to the list. Because, really, isn’t it time for Bieber to go bye bye? (If not from the country, than at least from our collective pop culture consciousness.)
The petition reads as such:
“We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”
Will YOU support the cause? It would probably be un-American not to.
