Grab your tent and make room in your backyard, or, perhaps, your living room.
Next weekend is the Great American Backyard Campout, a national event June 22 to encourage families to enjoy nature together – outside.
Popping a tent in the backyard will also fulfill the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommended one hour of outside play per day, organizers hope.
The National Wildlife Federation suggests making a meal out of the overnight event, roasting pigs in a blanket and dipping strawberries in marshmallow fluff, roasted over a fire, for dessert.
About 1,000 people have registered so far, organizers say.
