Money magazine has named Babson the No. 2 college in the U.S., beating out such institutions as Harvard and MIT. The list ranks some 1500 schools based on educational quality, affordability and alumni earnings.
The Boston school — which specializes in business and entrepreneurship — is unique in that it only offers one degree: a B.S. in business. Students get hand-on experience, launching a business during their freshmen year (all profits go to a charity) and interning with local companies throughout their four years. Such focus pays off, literally, with alumni earning an average yearly salary of $60,100 within five years of graduation — “about $9,300 more than the average for recent grads of comparable schools,” reports Money.
Stanford snagged the No. 1 spot, with MIT, Princeton and CalTech rounding out the top five.
