Looking for the perfect home for you and your dog? Rover.com and Whistle partnered together to compile a list of the best U.S. cities for families who want to be active with their canines.

Cities were ranked by the availability of pet-friendly amenities like off-leash dog parks, trusted pet sitters and pleasant summer temps, along with the number of active dogs.

Cities were also ranked according to the most off-leash dog parks per capita, with the top ones having oversized toys, splash pads, and beautiful views to keep dogs of all types occupied for hours.

Although dogs have been around and playing for ages, the world’s first dog park didn’t open until 1979 in Berkeley, California. New York City is totally dog friendly, proven by the 136 dog parks available for owners to bring their pets to, andSeattle is home to the Magnuson Dog Park, spanning across nine acres of land.
