A minor traffic infraction snowballed into a car chase, the discharging of police firearms and a long list of criminal charges for a twitchy Bronx driver who failed to yield to a pedestrian on Tuesday, police said.
Jason Henry, 39, was pulled over at around 5 p.m. by officers who were part of a routine pedestrian safety detail monitoring trafficat Morris Park Avenue and White Plains Road.
But as the cops approached his vehicle, Henry took off.
During the ensuing chase, Henry struck a parked car, drove up onto a sidewalk, elicited fire by driving directly at police officers and finally crashed into a telephone pole.
Henry was taken into police custody without further incident.One hundred Oxycodone pills were found inside the vehicle after his arrest, causing “criminal possession of narcotics” to be added to a dizzying list of 14 charges that also includes vehicular assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs.
