Catherine Greig: Life on the run with Whitey

After months on the road with her former boyfriend, alleged mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger, Teresa Stanley wanted to go home.

Bulger dropped off his then-girlfriend at her daughter’s Hingham home and then went to Malibu Beach in Dorchester to meet mob associate Kevin Weeks and new girlfriend Catherine Greig, with whom Bulger would spend the next 16 years hiding.

That was one of the many details revealed about the fugitive duo’s life on the run by a FBI agent who testified yesterday during Greig’s probable cause and detention hearing.

Greig, 60, was charged with harboring Bulger as a fugitive. The duo was finally caught last month in Santa Monica, Calif.

While initially traveling with Stanley, Bulger visited Italy, England and Ireland and various states in America. He had some safe deposit boxes and safes stashed in Florida and New York. His brother, Jack, paid the rent on one box, said Special Agent Michael Carazza. The contact information attached to Bulger’s London deposit box was that of his brother William, Carazza said.

Carazza later played a surveillance video that showed Greig walking into a California pharmacy to pick up medications. He also said that she would make calls to her sister’s neighbor’s home to talk with her sister.

Greig’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, and her sister, Margaret McCusker did not comment as they left the courthouse yesterday.
