A fight escalated into a stabbing in Jackson Place.

A Cambridge man is facing an assault to murder charge after he allegedly stabbed a man he knew during a fight late Monday in the city.
Scott Avakian, 44, was arrested after the incident and charged with assault to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.
Officers were called to Jackson Place just after 11 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.
Police said Avakian and the victim knew each other and were involved in a fight that escalated into a stabbing.Officers and fire personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a hospital.
Avakian was expected in court sometime Tuesday.
