Firefighters say a 200-year-old house in Westwood sustained heavy damage in a three-alarm fire Monday morning.
Westwood Fire Captain Robert Valluzzi told the Boston Globe the fire at 355 Dover Road was reported just after 5 a.m.
The home, which was vacant and under construction, was built in 1830 and is worth just under $1 million, according to town assessor records obtained by the Boston Globe. The Westwood fire chief told NECN the structure is a total loss.
Firefighters from Walpole, Norwood, Dedham, Medfield, and Dover helped extinguish the blaze.
There’s no word yet on what sparked the fire. The state fire marshal will investigate.
