A JetBlue pilot pleaded not guilty Monday to allegedly possessing heroin at Boston Common Sunday evening.

John Manwaring, 42, of Florida was one of six people arrested near the Boylston Street Green Line stop after police witnessed what they believed to be a drug deal.

Manwaring was temporarily removed from his position as a pilot.

JetBlue told Metro in an email: “The crewmember in question was removed from duty last night pending the outcome of this investigation. In compliance with all FAA and DOT regulations and requirements, JetBlue has in place a rigorous drug testing program for crew members.”

It is unclear if Manwaring had recently flown into Boston or had any flights scheduled, but he reportedly told police thathe had arrived in the city just hours earlier.
