Gay Pride month kicked off on Sunday in Jackson Heights with the first of several parades to be held across the five boroughs throughout June.
Openly gay City Council Speaker Christine Quinn led the parade along with a number of other council members. Her fellow mayoral contender Bill de Blasio was also in attendance.

The Brooklyn Pride parade will be held June 8, with the month’s festivities culminating with the Pride Rally on June 28 and a march down Fifth Avenue on June 30.
