The state’s recently-elected senator will celebrate his new title with a ceremonial swearing-in at Faneuil Hall this week.

Sen. Ed Markey plans to celebrate his recent victory with hundreds of elected officials, constituents and supporters Thursday night.

“Senator Markey will spend this week criss-crossing the Commonwealth to talk with local leaders, small businesses and constituents about the issues important to the future of their communities and the state, culminating in the celebration in Boston,” Markey’s office said in an announcement.

Markey was telling his Twitter followers to submit RSVPs to attend the event.

While the ceremony is being called a “swearing-in,” Markey was officially sworn into office by Vice President Joe Biden last month in Washington, D.C.

Markey defeated Republican challenge Gabriel Gomez in a special election in June to replace former senator and current Secretary of State John Kerry.

Markey spent decades in the House before running for Kerry’s seat.
