A Connecticut woman pleaded not guilty this week to assaulting her daughter during her daughter’s wedding reception in Sudbury.
Leslie Duane, 55, was arrested after she allegedly slapped her daughter across the face Sunday at a Sudbury inn, according to the MetroWest Daily News. She was arraigned Wednesday in Framingham District Court.
The incident happened as the 35-year-old bride and others were helping to get Duane to a car because she was heavily intoxicated and causing a scene, a prosecutor said. When the bride was helping her mother to the car, the mother allegedly slapped her.
When officers arrived they found Duane lying in bushes, screaming and swearing, a prosecutor said. Witnesses told officers that Duane had slapped her daughter.
The prosecutor did not request bail and the judge ordered Duane not to abuse her daughter. She is due back in court in December.
