A 6-year-old boy from New Jersey is in stable condition after his 4-year-old neighbor accidentally shot him in the head with a rifle Monday night while the two were playing outside.
Police said the .22 caliber went off at about 7 p.m. in the yard of the 4-year-old’s home in Toms River, N.J., NBC News reports. It is not clear if the boy pulled the trigger or if the rifle accidentally discharged.
Cops are still investigating how the young boy obtained the rifle that he found in his home.
