Floating turkeys cost more to guard than one day of monitoring Occupy Wall Street protesters, according to a new report.
According to the New York World, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade cost $192,000 in police overtime last year – and that’s more than an average day of police guarding Occupy Wall Street.
The NYPD estimates that paying police officers overtime for Occupy Wall Street-related events adds up to $8 million so far.
That means the daily cost is about $129,000 – under the expense for cops along the parade’s route.
