NYPD seizes 3,000 books in Greenwich Village

Police are cracking down on vendors that sell books on Sixth Avenue illegally, according to DNAInfo.

Officers from the 6th Precinct confiscated more than 3,000 books between Waverly Place and Washington Place last month because they say vendors broke city regulations, according to the site.

Sellers break rules by leaving merchandise unattended, selling unlicensed items and having more than one table per vendor. The books are being held as abandoned property with the NYPD and can be reclaimed within four months of the date they were confiscated, officers told the site.
