Storm damaged NYPD evidence: Ray Kelly

Some NYPD evidence may have been damaged during the flooding caused by Superstorm Sandy, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said this morning.

The commissioner told reporters at an unrelated press conference at One Police Plaza that the storm may have damaged evidence being held in a Greenpoint facility.

“There’s potential for that,” he said. “We’re still trying to sort through this.”

He said that they were working to see what might have been damaged and whether it would affect cases.

“That is going to have to be addressed,” he said, adding that it is certainly a “concern.”
