T puts tons of cameras at Forest Hills station

At Forest Hills Station—Big Brother is watching you.

On Thursday, MBTA General Manager Jonathan Davis announced that the T finished equipping the station with 58 additional surveillance cameras in the upper and lower bus-ways and the rail yard.

According to T spokesman Joe Pesaturo, there are now 77 cameras operating at Forest Hills.

Davis said the cameras are monitored at multiple locations, including Transit Police headquarters and the MBTA Operations Control Center.

Additional security enhancements include intrusion detection systems in the rail yard.

Davis also said the number of cameras at Jackson Station has more than tripled, from four to 15.

The upgrades cost roughly $963,000—money that was funded through grants from the Department of Homeland Security.
