Three-alarm fire tears through Staten Island building

A three-alarm fire tore through a strip of stores, including a C-Town Supermarket, on Staten Island early this morning.

The blaze broke out about 3 a.m. at 131 Bennett St. in Port Richmond and rose to a third alarm about an hour later, an FDNY spokesman said.

About 140 firefighters were called to the scene and brought the fire under control about 6 a.m.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
