Officers are investigating an overnight car accident on the Long Island Expressway that left two people dead early Tuesday.
Police found an Audi sedan turned on its side along the expressway about 12:57 a.m. near Pomonok, Queens.
The male driver and female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers.
Investigators said the car was traveling westbound on the six-lane expressway near the Utopia Parkway exit when it left the road, flipped on its side and hit a tree ahead of the Kissena Boulevard exit.
