Upper Darby Police: Feel ‘Very Strongly’ They Have Identified Man Connected With Facebook-Murder-Plot Shooting

Upper Darby police are close to arresting one of the men involved in the shooting of Facebook murder plot target Corey White.

White was killed Monday evening after two men in a carjacked vehicle pulled up
to the 5100 block of Hadfield Street in West Philadelphia and exchanged
words with him. One man got out and fatally shot him in the chest.

“We are working very hard on investigating the carjacking and we feel
very strongly that we have the identity of the man who did the
carjacking, but we haven’t charged him yet,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.

The vehicle was stolen less than an hour before White’s murder from behind the 69th
Street movie theater. As the driver and a passenger were exiting, an armed man demanded the car keys, money and
phones.

The car was later found on fire in an Upper Darby industrial park on the
1400 block of Longacre Boulevard. Though it was totally destroyed,
Philadelphia police took the vehicle to be processed.

Police have also confirmed that White may have been involved in an earlier homicide.

Allegations surfaced that White was the getaway driver in the July 18 fatal shooting of Randy Campbell, 23, outside the Venue
Bar in Upper Darby. Parolee John “Jizz” Gordon, 37, is already being sought in connection with the actual murder.

“We talked to about 200 people the night of the homicide,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. “During the course of the investigation, different names of different people who may be involved came up and that was one of scenarios brought to our attention. Unfortunately, we never had the chance to talk to [White] to confirm or exonerate him.”
