A woman who had her iPad ripped out of her hands while waiting for a train at the Andrew Square MBTA station chased down the man who allegedly tried to steal from her.

MBTA Transit Police said officers were called to Andrew Square Station in South Boston about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday for a robbery in progress.

When officers arrived, the woman was able to point out the alleged thief.

She told officers that she had been reading from her iPad as she sat on a platform bench waiting for a train when a man sat down next to her.

When the train pulled into the station, the man forcefully grabbed the device from her hands and fled up the stairs, police said.

The woman gave chase and was able to grab him. That’s when a struggle ensued, and she was able to take back her iPad.

Police charged Chino Young, 21, of Brockton with unarmed robbery and assault and battery. He is due in South Boston District Court on Wednesday.
