Police are investigating after they discovered a woman’s body on the subway tracks at the Canal Street station Sunday afternoon.
Cops responded to the call about a woman on the tracks of the southbound 1 train at the station about 1:30 p.m.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. It was not clear whether or not the woman was hit by a train, the New York Post reported.
She had a head wound, but no other obvious signs of trauma. The woman was last seen at McKenna’s Pub on 14th Street early Sunday morning, sources told the Post.
She then used a MetroCard at the 14th Street and Seventh Avenue station about 1:40 a.m. She was not carrying ID or a cell phone.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
