The body of a woman was pulled from the waters near Castle Island in South Boston on New Year’s Day and police are now conducting a death investigation.
Boston police said that officers from the Harbor Unit were called to the South Boston area about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a body. When officers arrived they found the Boston Fire Department Marine Unit already on scene and pulling the woman’s body out of the water.
The woman, who was not identified, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives are investigating.
