Yoselyn Ortega, nanny accused of murder, ruled fit for trial

The nanny accused of killing two children in her care on the Upper West Side was announced mentally fit to stand trial today.

The Manhattan Supreme Court judge in the case said in court this morning that Yoselyn Ortega was ruled able to proceed to a trial in the murder case, according to news reports.

Ortgea is accused of killing Leo and Lucia Krim in October in a case that shocked the city.

Their mother, arriving home with their third child, found the children dead and the nanny at their Upper West Side home.

Supporters set up a Facebook page to defend Ortega.

Her lawyer plans to fight the ruling, the New York Post reported.

Ortega last appeared in courtin March, where her hearing was adjourned until the psychiatric evaluations were complete.

The Krim family has shared their grief through a website and fund they set up to honor their children.
