A 30-year-old man who had been drinking with his friends was slashed in Midwood early Friday morning by an attacker who remained on the loose.

The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. near the corner of Kings Highway and East Third Street, police said to the New York Daily News, which added that the victim was drinking inside an apartment before getting into an argument with his attacker.

During the argument, the suspect slashed the victim in his arm, neck and torso, sources said to CBS.

"A guy ran inside here and said 'Call an ambulance, somebody was hurt,'" an employee of Bakery Plus, which is located across the street from the apartment building where the incident took place, said to the Daily News. "I ran across, and inside there's blood all over the couch."

The victim was transported to NYU Lutheran Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said to the Daily News, which added that the suspect fled the scene.
