Eat the hits during Twelve Nights of Union Square Cafe

Though saved from the fate of so many restaurants this year that have shuttered after rent hikes, Union Square Cafe won’t be quite the same when it moves uptown (even if it’s just three blocks).

Before Shake Shack was even a twinkle in his eye, Danny Meyer opened the restaurant at 21 E. 16th St. nearly 30 years ago. Its final day of service there is Thursday, Dec. 12, after which it will close until the spring while getting settled at 35 Park Avenue South, on the corner of East 19th Street.

Until then, it’s time to celebrate, with 12 days of ticketed dinners beginning on Dec. 1.

The three-course, prix fixe menu for $85 per person will feature some of the restaurant’s greatest holiday hits from its beginning in 1985 to the present. Optional wine pairings will highlight some house favorite bottles and producers. Reservations are available now by calling 212-243-4020.
