FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Don’t plan on any billboards asking for the firing of New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan and certainly not from the people who helped oust the former general manager. The group behind FireJohnIdzik.com is fully on board with the new Jets general manager, at least for now. The website raised money for three billboards in the tristate area in addition to planning a protest during the Jets final home game where over 10,000 rally towels were distributed. The stated purpose of these protests was to see former general manager John Idzik fired after just two disappointing seasons with the team. In a statement obtained by Metro New York, a spokesman for FireJohnIdzik.com sounded approval of Wednesday’s introductory press conference for head coach Todd Bowles and Maccagnan. So far, these fans like what they see from Maccagnan: “Wednesday’s press conference was a breath of fresh air for Jets fans. Mike Maccagnan & Todd Bowles really did a great job of portraying the image to fans that the circus has officially left town. This press conference was neither ‘entertaining’ or ‘fun.’ It was all business. No bold predictions or corporate tag lines necessary. We firmly stand behind our new leadership and look forward to the future of the Jets.” According to Domain.com which registers domain names, the web address for FireMikeMaccagnan.com was recently purchased.
