A high-speed car crash late Sunday night in Queens has left one motorist dead and two passengers in area hospitals with serious injuries.
Shortly before 11 p.m., police responded to a report of an accident on the westbound side of Grand Central Parkway at 100th Street, authorities stated.
At the scene, officials found that the driver, 42, and front-seat passenger, 46, both men, were unconscious. The two were taken to Elmhurst Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead and the passenger remained in critical condition, according to police.
A backseat passenger, a 37-year-old woman, was injured by awake when police arrived, authorities explained. She was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital.
The Collision Investigation Squad determined that the vehicle was being driven at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and hit the 100th Street concrete bridge support, according to police.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
