Hamptons helicopter outrage

This morning, a glimpse into the trials of life in the Hamptons.

Residents are upset, the New York Post writes, because of a new local restriction on how often they can fly their helicopters – and where they can land them.

After noise complaints from neighbors, the owners of private helicopters (including Goldman Sachs head Lloyd Blankfein, billionaire Ira Rennert, and Jets owner Woody Johnson), will be restricted to just one round trip per week landing at East Hampton Airport.

A local group, the Quiet Skies Coalition, has been lobbying for this for three years.

“It will be like ‘Apocalypse Now,’” one Hamptonite told the Post. “But it’s not the end of the world. Seaplanes can still land in East Hampton. Everybody will be taken care of. It’s rich people’s problems.”
