Katz’s Deli in Brooklyn? Massive DeKalb Market Hall is taking shape

The white-hot food hall trend shows no sign of cooling, with the latest addition coming toBrooklyn as part ofCity Point.

The massive mixed-use development just announced a 26,000-square-foot food emporium to be called DeKalb Market Hall. The plan is to house as many as 55 vendors, with Fletcher’s Brooklyn Barbecue, Arepa Lady and Steve’s Ice Creamalready signed on. But the big kahuna is yet to be reeled in — Katz’s Delicatessen, of “I’ll have what she’s having” (and pastrami) fame, is reportedly mulling opening its firstoutpost there.

As a small nod to those who fondly remember the quirky market that used to sit on the City Point lot, where handmade crafts and food were sold by stores housed inside shipping containers, DeKalb Market will have the same building block aesthetic. The project is slated to open sometime next year.
