A 51-year-old man was reportedly slashed in the back Friday as he stood on a subway platform at Penn Station.

The man was at the 34th Street and Sevent Avenue station when a man and woman allegedly attacked him, DNAinfo.com reported. The suspects were reportedly panhandlers, police said. The incident happened just after 3 p.m.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Roosevelt hospital and was expected to survive, according to the report. The suspects were not arrested, DNAinfo.com reported. The investigation is ongoing.

New York police said there have been well over 900 slashings and stabbings in the city since January — signifying a major uptick compared to 2015.
