A mother who pimped out her 15-year-old daughter earlier this year was convicted in a Manhattan courtroom Wednesday.
Yolanda Ostoloza, a 39-year-old Florida native who traveled with her daughter to New York for the 2014 Super Bowl, was found guilty of promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child. “Think about what a barely 15-year-old girl is supposed to be doing. Planning for her Sweet 16, preparing to get her driver’s permit… Maybe even thinking about a high school sweetheart,” Manhattan District Attorney Rachel Ehrhardt said during closing remarks on Wednesday. “But for [Ostoloza’s daughter], her mother had another plan for her… sexually exploit her child for money,” On the night in question, Ostoloza arranged a meeting for her daughter with a potential customer before sending her out with condoms and a list of prices for various sexual services. The customer turned out to be an undercover NYPD detective. During the trial, Ostoloza claimed she had considered working with a pimp named Damon Hayes, but reconsidered. Hayes has also been charged and his case is pending. If convicted, Ostoloza faces up to 15 years in prison.
