NoMad is now the most expensive neighborhood in New York City

Move over, Tribeca – NoMad is now the most neighborhood in New York, with median rent for a 1-bedroom at $4,270, reports Zumper. Tribeca boasted the highest median rent for a 1-bedroom before, but prices dropped by 2.3 percent in March to $4,200, tying with Flatiron as the second most expensive neighborhoods in New York.

The West Village and Chelsea both jumped in rent, increasing by 5.4 percent to $3,900 and 5.2 percent to $3,800, respectively, and Soho jumped by a whopping 6.1 percent to $3,500.

One neighborhood whose rents have gone down is DUMBO; prices diped by 6 percent to $3,760, leaving it the eighth priciest neighborhood. In spite of the drop, it remains the most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Most of the top 20 most expensive neighborhoods in New York are in downtown Manhattan, unsurprisingly. The most expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn are still DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn.

What are the five least expensive neighborhoods on Zumper’s list? Bedford Stuyvesant, Forest Hills, Crown Heights, Riverdale and Jackson Heights all have median rents of $1,900 and under for a one-bedroom apartment.
