Game 1 of the World Series between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals begins tonight, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants serving something extra special on game days.
In addition to showing all the games on its two large projector screens, several of Gotham West Market's tenants are offering specials during games. El Colmado will have sliders made with albóndigas (lamb meatballs); Evelyn’s Kitchen is baking a blue and orange Mets-themed cake; Ample Hills Creamery will serve their Party Like It’s 1986 Mets-themed flavor (kettle corn ice cream with chocolate-covered peanut brittle and blue and orange M&M’s, served in a mini Mets baseball hat).
Forget hot dogs and get to Bill’s Bar & Burger (Downtown, Meatpacking, Rockefeller Center) for the Amazin’ Burger: two patties with smoked bacon and sharp cheddar cheese, served on a glazed Dough doughnut “for their sweet playing, of course!” ($12) and $8 can/$35 bucket of five 16-oz. cans of Queens Brewery beers.
