Arrest in Kidston murder

Police have made an arrest in the killing of Grant William Kidston.

Halifax Regional Police arrested the man just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, after pulling over his vehicle on Highway 111.

Police say no further details can be released pending charges, which are expected to be laid early Friday.

Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter did confirm, however, the suspect and Kidston were known to one another.

“We’re not going to say much more until a decision on charges is made,” said Palmeter.

The arrest is the result of a three-month-long investigation by members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated Crime Unit.

Kidston was found dead in his Dartmouth apartment on May 30, after police received reports of a deceased person on the third floor of the building.

The cause of Kidston’s death has not been released. At the time, Palmeter said the cause “may be crucial as far as speaking to possible suspects.”

Initially dubbed suspicious, the death was ruled a homicide the following day. A suspect was brought in for questioning that day, but was later released.
