Calgary police investigate attempted child abduction

Calgary Police are looking into allegations of an attempted abduction of a seven year old girl.

An investigation is underway into alleged attempted child abduction in the city's northeast earlier this week.

Police say a girl was riding her bike in an alley located in the 200 block of Covemeadow Cres. NE around 7 p.m., March 9.

According to police the girl spotted a suspicious vehicle that initially passed by her and then when the child saw the car a few minutes later, it stopped in front of her and a man tried to grab her.

The girl jumped off her bike and ran to hide, according to police, and the man allegedly came out to try to find her and when he had passed by her hiding spot, she ran home.

The man is described as dark skinned with dark hair, 30 to 35 years old, tall with a heavy build, slim face and wearing silver glasses, black pants, and a black leather jacket, according to police.

Police say the suspect vehicle was described as an older model two door, silver car.
