Fox-Mellway calls for action on recreation complex in SE

Let’s get this show on the road.

Ward 14 Ald. Linda Fox-Mellway wants to propel the development of a southeast regional recreation complex into action, as the city has already approved $70 million in funding.

“The money has been approved and I want to say let’s going on this and just confirm the money and they can go ahead and start attaining corporate sponsorship for the project,” she said.

On Monday, Fox-Mellway will motion for a progress report to be back by January 2011 on the Seton project that will see an arena, school and library complex built.

“Once we get this going it can hopefully be completed in two or three years,” she said.

Fox-Mellway also spearheaded the South Fish Creek park project. She said while that took five years to complete, it was also the first project of its kind in the city in 30 years.

“This time around things will be more streamlined.”
