British rock star Ian Watkins of the band Lostprophets has been sentenced to 35 years after admitting to several child sex offenses, including attempted baby rape, reports the BBC. Watkins pleaded guilty to 13 child sex offenses, including two counts of attempted baby rape in November.

He chatted with a fan from prison a few days later. He told the woman he wasn’t a pedophile and said, “I’m going to put out a statement on the 18th just to say it was mega lolz. I do not know what everybody is getting so freaked out about,” reports the Guardian.

Watkins, 36, of Pontypridd, Wales, explained to the woman that he decided to plead guilty after contemplating two options: “It was like either I go up there and say: ‘Come on it was not that bad. Nobody got hurt,'” or “try to win them over with my charm” and end up saying: “I was off my head and do not remember anything.”

Watkins was sentenced along with two mothers of his victims. Woman A was sentenced to 14 years and Woman B was sentenced to 17 years in prison, reports the BBC. Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in prison and six more years on license. He will be eligible for parole after two-thirds of his prison term.

Watkins admitted to conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault on children, seven counts of taking, making or possessing pornographic images of children and one count of possessing an image of extreme bestiality.
