Three men were deported from Saudi Arabia because religious authorities feared they were so handsome, local women would find them irresistible.

The men, from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, were thrown out of Saudi Arabia after traveling there to attend a heritage and culture festival in the city of Riyadh.

Local daily paper Elaph reported that a group of Saudi Arabia’s notorious religious police stormed the festival stage where the men were standing and arrested them for being too handsome.

“A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors could fall for them,” Elaph reported.

Saudi Arabia is a deeply conservative Islamic society and religious police intervene, often violently, to keep unrelated men and women apart.
