A former Philadelphia Police officer was sentenced to 8 years in prison for robbing drug dealers for Oxycontin and cash.
Christopher Saravello, 38, had pleaded guilty in federal court to six counts of extortion for an extortion scheme his lawyer says, in court documents, was fueled by an prescription pain pill addiction.
Saravello would bust drug deals that were set up by his own drug dealer, who was a co-conspiraor in the extortion scheme. In at least one of those deals, Saravello threatened to shoot one of the drug dealers if he didn't hand over cash and drugs.
Saravello worked as a police officer from 2007 until 2012.
