The Bruins are a hurtin’ unit, particularly, on the defensive end as Andrew Ference, Dennis Seidenberg and Wade Redden all missed the Bruins’ morning skate Thursday. Boston will enter Thursday night’s Game 1 against the Rangers with Zdeno Chara, Matt Bartkowski, Dougie Hamilton, Johnny Boychuk, Torey Krug, Adam McQuaid and Aaron Johnson in front of goaltender Tuukka Rask.

Also of note at the morning skate, left wing Brad Marchand left the ice in pain following 2-on-1 drills. Head coach Claude Julien expects Marchand to play Thursday night (7:30 p.m., NBCSN).
