NFL Roundup: Week 8

With Hurricane Sandy barreling in on the East Coast, the NFL saw some offensive explosions ahead of the storm Sunday:

Steelers 27, Redskins 12

The Steelers improved to 3-0 at home in their convincing win. Pittsburgh’s defense was able to contain RG3, holding him to only 177 yards passing and eight yards rushing.

Lions 28, Seahawks 24

Titus Young’s 1-yard touchdown reception with 20 seconds left gave the Lions a come-from-behind win over the Seahawks.

Browns 7, Chargers 6

In the biggest surprise of the day, the Browns earned their second win of the year by overtaking the Chargers in an offensive struggle. Cleveland running back Trent Richardson’s touchdown in the first quarter proved to be the difference as San Diego’s offense could only connect on two field goals in the loss.

Falcons 30, Eagles 17

Atlanta continues to show why it is one of the best teams in the league as it improved to 7-0 with a road win in Philly. Matt Ryan tossed three TD passes.

Bears 23, Panthers 22

Robbie Gould’s 41-yard field goal with four seconds remaining gave the Bears the narrow win.

Dolphins 30, Jets 9

In the biggest blowout of the day, Miami defeated the Jets on the road. The Jets’ offensive struggles continued, as quarterback Mark Sanchez was 28-of-54 for 283 yards, throwing for a touchdowns as well as an interception. Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill was injured for the Dolphins in the first quarter and replaced by Matt Moore, who played quite well in the win.

Indianapolis Colts 19 Tennessee Titans 13

The Colts were able to come from behind and overtake the Titans in overtime, as Vick Ballard’s 16-yard touchdown reception from Andrew Luck was the game-winning score. Luck threw for 297 yards in the win. Indianapolis is now 4-3, while the Titans are 3-5.

Green Bay Packers 24 Jacksonville Jaguars 15

Although it wasn’t pretty, the Packers were able to get past the Jaguars at home to improve to 5-3 on the year. Aaron Rodgers only threw for 186 yards, while Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert threw for an impressive 303 yards in the loss.
