What went wrong …
Let’s not get greedy, here:?The only reason the Bruins are in the Eastern Conference finals is their goalie, Tim Thomas.
OK, that’s enough sentimentality. If the same Thomas we saw Wednesday night shows up in Friday’s Game 7, this season is over.
Thomas looked all kinds of out of sorts. He was rarely in position, and suffered a rare bad beat on a puck he got a body on. Only a few timely plays by his teammates prevented even more Tampa goals.
2 Where did the killer instinct go?
Talk about frustrating. A series after exorcising last year’s ghosts by finishing the Flyers off, the B’s had the East finals well in hand.
Then they came out flat in Game 6.
How can this keep happening? Why can’t they finish? It’s not talent; is it a question of leadership? What’s going on?
3 So much for that penalty-kill prowess
Boston held the Lightning’s vaunted power play largely at bay in the first five games of the series.
Then came last night.
Tampa Bay tied the game at 2-all on a Martin St. Louis power-play goal, then took the lead when Teddy Purcell found the net a man up. Not done, Steven Stamkos gave them a 4-2 lead on the advantage.
If the B’s are going to have a prayer Friday, that can’t happen.
