NFL quarterback battles: odds for Jets, Broncos, Texans starters

Jets, Christian Hackenberg

It seems as through fewer quarterback controversies than usual are storylines in the NFL, as training camps commense across the league.

Barring any sort of unexpected injury to a starter — which teams will go out of their way to prevent by sitting their star quarterbacks out for most of the preseason and limit reps when necessary in practices — there are only really a handful of battles to keep an eye on.

BookMaker.eu has handicapped the odds of five such quarterback battles, most interesting of these bring the battle to start for lowly Cleveland. Brock Osweiler, Cody Cessler and rookie DeShone Kizer all seem to have nearly the same odds of earning the nod in a wide open competition.

The next closest battle is in New York, as Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg appear to be neck-and-neck to lead the Jets in Week 1, with Bryce Petty a longshot third.
