Playing the Field: Dufnering is latest thing to hate

Frankly I’m tired of all these photo memes.

First we had planking, then Tebowing, then Griffining, then some other stupid thing and some other stupider thing. You get the point. I don’t know what people found these memes entertaining, but I blame them for all of society’s ills.

Well, now we have a new thing to be annoyed with: Dufnering.

Jason Dufner, a golfer currently No. 18 in the world, showed up at a Dallas-area school for an appearance and had a photo snapped of him slouching against the wall, seemingly ignoring the kids. Outside of the fact that the photo sums up every athlete promotional event, it also sparked the trend of Dufnering.

Friend and fellow pro Keegan Bradley posted the original picture on Twitter and, as these things do, it immediately went viral.

A bunch of other golfers hopped on the trend, including Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Bubba Watson and pretty much every other PGA golfer on tour. Bradley tracked all of the Dufnering on his Twitter account. Woman-about-town, and boyfriend of Dustin Johnson, Paulina Gretzky even sort of got in on the trend, posting a picture of her dog in said pose. But what would the trend be without some ladies who actually did get in on the fun. Props to Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer for posting their Dufnering photos. LPGA Dufnering is something we can actually get behind.
